Shift Hours: 5:00pm – 3:30am (Mon-Thurs) 10 Hour Shift


Production Operator is responsible for operating battery material manufacturing equipment. Additional responsibilities include conducting quality checks, engaging in basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance throughout the production process, and collecting qualifying products and packages for shipment.


Job Core Responsibilities


• Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all local, state and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and the environment.


• Communicate with Shift Leader regarding safety, production, quality or any other operational issues. Actively participates in pre-shift meetings to assist in the development of individual work plans.


• Perform manufacturing tasks related to the recycling of batteries and the production of NMC cathode powder. Includes mechanical disassembly of battery packs and modules, operating and controlling mechanical shredder, vibratory sieve, and metals separation machines.


• Perform cleaning and routine preventative maintenance on heavy production machines


• Learns and follows safety regulations and wear the prescribed personal protective equipment


• Operate material handling equipment, such as forklift, drum dollies, hoists, and experienced using basic hand and power tools,


• Complete and accurately record data such as temperature of equipment, hours of operations, raw material lot numbers, process and reaction conditions, and process yields in accordance with good documentation practices.


• Maintain a clean and productive area by ensuring that equipment and work area is cleaned after use and the equipment is maintained per the preventative maintenance schedule.


• Assist with maintaining adequate supplies to ensure team has necessary supplies available to complete project work.


• Weigh, measure, and check raw materials/productions to ensure batches manufactured contain proper ingredients and quantities and that accurate inventory is maintained.


• Follows and abides by all EH&S policies, practices, and procedures in association with department specific responsibilities.


• Other duties as assigned

  • Be committed to and support the EHS management process to obtain the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification as well as participate in system standards and practices in its compliance and commitment to policies, objectives, operational controls, documentation, system guidelines, and others that the organization subscribes to as mandatory.

  • Will participate in all EHS aspects, including reporting hazards, incidents, and injury/illness without fear of reprisal.

  • Attend an Environment, Health, and Safety Orientation program appropriate to their work environment.

  • Follow 6S step-by-step methodology to maintain orderly workspaces and resources thereby enhancing productivity and safety.


Education: High school diploma and minimum of 3+ years of applicable production experience or post High School education and 1+ years production experience


Skills:


-Attention to detail, capable of understanding and following verbal and written instructions


– Hands on aptitude with mechanical process equipment


– Ability to perform basic math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division


– Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to drive tasks to completion


Physical Requirements:



  • Capable of wearing task specific personal protective equipment which may include dust mask, air purifying respirator (i.e., half and/or full faced), safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.

  • Capable of meeting OSHA standards for manual lifting guidelines: < 50lbs

Production Technician I is responsible for operating the standard procedures for battery discharge and disassembly of lithium-ion battery cells, modules, and packs. Additional responsibilities include conducting quality checks, engaging in basic troubleshooting and equipment maintenance throughout the production process, and collecting qualifying products and packages for shipment.

Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

We are currently hiring an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team! In this position you will be responsible for the overall process automation design and optimization of AE manufacturing facilities which include handling, discharge, and disassembly of spent EV batteries, shredding of such batteries, and chemical processing of this shredded material into new battery cathode.


This position will be based in Hopkinsville KY or in our Massachusetts Headquarters.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Provide instrumentation and process controls technical expertise for capital projects, including reviewing and updating P&IDs, designing instruments, preparing or reviewing instrument index, input/output lists, instrument loop diagrams, instrument datasheets, control description, instruments requisition, junction box termination drawings, cable schedules, supporting FAT, SAT, installation, commissioning, startup.

  • Interface with EPC firms and construction contractors to effectively design and execute instrumentation and plant automation systems.

  • Lead efficiency improvement automation projects in multiple brown and green field sites. Modify and debug process control systems to achieve continuous process optimization and downtime reduction.

  • Interface with R&D team and contractors to select and implement instrumentation and automation systems of new processes.

  • Work with Quality team on quality control data management.

  • Support the production plant’s technical staff to meet plant metrics with robust processes and quality systems based on the APQP tool kit.

  • Lead RCA (Root Cause Analysis) and troubleshooting effort to resolve process controls upset and product quality deviations.

  • Travel: 10% on average if based in Hopkinsville, 25% on average if based in Westborough, 50% peak during commissioning depending on site location.


Skills and Requirements:



  • Bachelor’s degree or technical diploma in Electrical, Process Controls, or Chemical Engineering with automation experience.

  • 5+ years of experience in instrumentation and controls design and troubleshooting of industrial manufacturing plant. Programming experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of control system design for performance material or similar manufacturing processes, and ability to read, interpret and generate engineering drawings and specifications.

  • Experience with Control panel design and low voltage electrical system.

  • Knowledge of Siemens and Allen Bradley programming is a plus.

  • Knowledge of and hands on experience using APQP tools (or equivalent) including FMEA, SPC, and design and process validation as well as Lean and 6 Sigma tools.

  • Effective project management for >$100k capital equipment projects.

  • Experience, judgement, and technical knowledge to drive data-based decisions.

  • Skilled user of MS office tools including Word, EXCEL, Outlook, Project, AutoCAD.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.

Assistant Corporate Controller

The Assistant Corporate Controller reports to the Corporate Controller and will be responsible for leading and driving the monthly closing process and assisting the Controller with managing overall accounting operations of Ascend Elements, Inc. The Assistant Controller will direct and manage the organization’s expense side of its accounting function, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures, preparing financial statements, and reporting to senior management.


This is a hybrid position with an on-site component at our Westborough, MA offices.


Responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • The candidate is required to have experience with managing and improving monthly and other period end (monthly, quarterly and annual) accounting close cycles.

  • Managing payables and related payment support with the Director of Treasury.

  • Have the ability to develop and mentor junior staff.

  • Both create entries and/or post other key contributor’s entries within SAP 4/HANA Cloud.

  • Manage T&E reimbursement process to ensure all required receipts support the requested. reimbursement (Concur) and are timely reimbursed to the employees.

  • Prepare/review the appropriate account reconciliations on a monthly basis.

  • Provide support for external Audits and Quarterly review procedures.

  • Evaluate and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

  • Effectively communicate with all levels of the organization as necessary.

  • Serve as a key member of the accounting and finance leadership team, maintaining in-depth relationships with each member, participating in key decisions with the team and providing leadership and expertise to local leadership in areas relating to accounting.

  • Help to establish and monitor internal controls to ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, US GAAP and company policies and procedures.

  • Support new systems or project selections and implement them from strategic finance and internal control perspective.

  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.


Requirements/Qualifications/Education:



  • 10+ years relevant experience to include top 10 firm.

  • CPA required.

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred, advanced degrees such as an MBA, MSA are desired.

  • Current solid ERP systems background (SAP), including reporting tools such as SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) or similar, as well as Concur.

  • Proficient in Word and Excel.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Strong organizational and analytical skills.

  • Willingness to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the organization.

  • Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills suited to a fast paced, value driven culture.
