Position Summary

The Electro-Mechanical Maintenance Technician supports plant operations by maintaining and repairing mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment across the lithium-ion battery recycling and metals recovery facility. This includes battery discharging, shredding, separation, leaching, and precursor cathode active material (pCAM) production lines. The role focuses on rotating equipment, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, and related utility systems, with limited basic electrical work related to motor controls and low-voltage components.


Key Responsibilities

Mechanical & Electro-Mechanical Maintenance:


– Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on:


• Shredders, conveyors, gear drives, pumps, agitators, and piping systems.


• Bearings, couplings, seals, valves, mixers, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.


• Bagging stations, powder-handling equipment, and dust collection systems.


– Troubleshoot and repair electro-mechanical systems such as motors, gearboxes, and basic motor starters.


– Perform alignments, rigging, fabrication, and installation of mechanical equipment.


– Inspect and service lubrication, cooling water, and compressed air systems.


– Support safe startup and shutdown of production equipment.


Safety & Compliance:


– Follow strict safety practices for working around high-energy batteries, corrosives, and combustible dust.


– Apply OSHA, NFPA 484, and company safety standards in all maintenance tasks.


– Use required PPE (respirators, gloves, FR clothing, eye and hearing protection) in designated areas.


– Participate in ISO 14001/45001 programs, hazard reporting, and 6S activities.


Reliability & Documentation:


– Use CMMS to track maintenance activities and document repairs.


– Conduct routine inspections and identify early signs of wear or failure.


– Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives focused on uptime.


– Assist in equipment rebuilds during scheduled shutdowns.


Qualifications

Education & Experience:


– High school diploma or equivalent required.


– Technical certification or journeyman-level training in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or related trade preferred.


– Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining industrial mechanical or electro-mechanical systems in a chemical plant, refinery, or process facility.


Technical Skills:


– Strong background in mechanical maintenance: rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, mixers, seals, bearings, and couplings.


– Working knowledge of basic electrical systems including, but not limited to: motors, motor starters, relays, fuses, and troubleshooting of low-voltage components (not full electrical construction or I&E duties).


– Proficiency in use of precision measuring instruments, rigging tools, and shop equipment.


– Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic system troubleshooting.


Soft Skills:


– Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.


– Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently under minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

Responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Support air, water, wastewater, and hazardous waste permitting and compliance.

  • Support compliance with all federal, state, and local EH&S regulations.

Utilities Supervisor

We are seeking a Utilities Supervisor to oversee the operation, maintenance, and reliability of all plant utility systems that support our discharging, shredding, metals separation, and lithium extraction processes. This role ensures our facility has safe, reliable, and efficient utility services 24/7. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong experience in power plants, industrial utilities, or chemical operations, and who thrives in a fast-paced, safety-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Oversee daily operations of compressed air, nitrogen generation, HVAC, steam & gas boilers, cooling water, RO/DI water, electrical distribution, and natural gas supply systems.

  • Optimize plant preventative maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy.

  • Provide commissioning and start-up support to production operations.

  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations, and other service units.

  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with company policies and procedures.

The base hourly rate for this position is $37.00-$43.00 per hour. Electrical and Instrumentation Technician

Position Overview


The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician will be responsible for providing repair, calibration, and emergency maintenance services to production, utility operations, and infrastructure systems as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance, and equipment availability related to instrument, controls, and low/mid voltage equipment systems plant wide.


Job Responsibilities



  • Incorporate safe behavior into all activities and consistently comply with all established safety and health policies and procedures including Lock, Tag, Try and Test Before Touch.

  • Perform maintenance of production units, utility, and infrastructure systems.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate instrument and control systems. Example assets include instrumentation and controls for compressor systems, shredders, bagging stations, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, piping flow control, tank level control, and the Distributed Control System (DCS).

  • Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance tasks upon 480V 3-Phase switch gear.

  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance on production unit, utility, and infrastructure equipment. Example activities include calibrating level/temperature/flow/pressure transmitters, installing control valves, performing control loop checks, performing interlock test procedures, wiring motor junction boxes, terminating electrically driven equipment at switch gear, pulling/installing 480V buckets, wiring actuators/sensors, performing switchgear IR scans, performing GFCI checks, replacing lighting and indicators, megging motor leads, etc.

  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to document and accomplish required maintenance in an efficient and organized manner.

  • Optimize plant preventive maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy.

  • Provide maintenance procedure and training development assistance for new equipment.

  • Provide start-up support to production operations.

  • Perform On-the-Job Training with new members of the team.

  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations, contractors, and other service units.

  • Act as liaison between suppliers/manufacturers and manufacturing partners for problems with electrical equipment.

  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with company policies and procedures.

  • The employee is committed to and must support the EHS management process to obtain the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification as well as participate in system standards and practices in its compliance and commitment to policies, objectives, operational controls, documentation, system guidelines, and others that the organization subscribes to as mandatory.

  • Must attend an Environment, Health, and Safety Orientation program appropriate to their work environment.

  • The employee must follow 6S step-by-step methodology to maintain orderly workspaces and resources thereby enhancing productivity and safety

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.


Required Skills / Abilities



  • Proficiency in the safe use of precision measuring instruments, power tools, and hand tools

  • Applied knowledge of industrial common instrument, controls, and electrical maintaining skills pertaining to instrument calibration, control loops, 12VDC to 480V Three Phase power distribution, hand rigging/hoisting, control valves, interlocks, gaskets, motors, and photosensors.

  • Thorough understanding of basic electrical theory, troubleshooting techniques, and safe work practices

  • Able to read and comprehend single line drawings and process schematics

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Strong multi-tasking competency

  • Team player attitude


Physical Requirements



  • Capable of wearing task specific personal protective equipment which may include dust mask, air purifying respirator (i.e., half and/or full faced), safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and ear protection.

  • Capable of meeting OSHA standards for manual lifting guidelines: < 50lbs

  • While performing the duties of this job it is required to stand, walk, and use hands to operate objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands or arms; climb, balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch when necessary for job activity.

  • Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.

  • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures.


Education/Training



  • High School Diploma (or higher-level education) in the field of Mechanical engineering and/or industrial maintenance

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred, maintaining instrument/control/electrical systems preferably in a chemical plant, refinery, or large process plant
