Position Overview


The Technical Sales Manager (South Korea) will be responsible for creating and leading the business development efforts and advance technical sales support for a set of new potential and existing customer’s accounts to deliver growth for AE. The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for the introduction and advancement of Ascend’s Hydro to Cathode pCAM and CAM business.


This position reports to the VP of Business Development.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:



  • Opening doors to new business opportunities & developing existing new business opportunities, with focus on pCAM and CAM but also support securing battery feed stock (input) & offtakes of black mass, metals and active materials (output) with key target customers.

  • Responsible as the lead point of contact for customer engineering & technical related topics during the new business acquisition process.

  • Support the AE team to progress JDAs with target OEMs and Battery Makers with the objective of qualifying AE recycled materials within cell manufacturers and OEMs road maps.

  • Processing of RFQ’s and leading the preparation of bids for new business, in particular evaluating and presenting AE compliance / exceptions to customer requirements / specifications.

  • Be the contact point and serve the customer to answer, support and follow up on technical topics, testing and approvals to advance the business development efforts.

  • Understand customer needs and wants in terms of technical topics and provide solutions with company products and services.

  • Be regularly present at customer engineering facilities.

  • Work with Quality to deliver technical resolution with customers when specs are not met and there are product performance issues.

  • Owning the relationship to purchasing / strategic contacts at prospective customers.




  • Overseeing the quality of relationship to engineering, quality and program departments.

  • Processing of RFQ’s and leading the preparation of bids for new business

  • Supporting pricing negotiations for current & future business opportunities

  • Work with Ascend Elements legal department to present and negotiate contract T&C’s.

  • Gathering customer, market and competitor intel to contribute to shaping Battery Strategy.

  • Identify trends in customer future technical specifications / requirements.

  • Contributing to the annual budgeting and long-term forecasting, personal input to guide the business on anticipated customer volumes.

  • Act as expert and consultants to customer and industry related stakeholders in CAM and pCAM products.

  • Weekly reports on activities and additional reports during important customer interactions.

  • Participate in industry events and frequent travels both domestic and international.



Education and other requirements:



  • Chemical Engineering or Chemistry background degree required. Master & PhD highly preferred.

  • Experience with managing product portfolio in CAM (Cathode Active Materials) and/or pCAM (Precursor Cathode Active Materials).

  • Successful track record of securing strategic sales of engineered systems, materials or components to automotive OEM’s.

  • Understanding of Electric Vehicle Industry and the Supply Chain for EV Batteries and raw materials.

  • Experience with (Hybrid) Electric Vehicles and/or high voltage or low voltage Li-ion battery systems or battery materials industry.

  • Fluent in English and Korean. Japanese will be an advantage.

  • Hands-on, detailed oriented leader who promotes a lean culture oriented towards action.

  • Proficient in all forms of Microsoft office products.

  • Ability to react to adjustments and alterations promptly and efficiently.

  • Strong written, oral communication and presentation skills.

Material Handler I is responsible for receiving, labeling, and storing incoming shipments, assessing stock for damages, keeping concise records of inventory, and maintaining organization of the warehouse and materials.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all local, state, and federal regulations regarding safety, health, and the environment.

  • Communicate with shift leader regarding safety or quality issues.

Job Overview:


The Chemical Plant Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the chemical processing departments. Monitoring the productivity of the staff as well as handling employee relation issues, planning, and optimizing the production lines, reporting incidents or malfunctions of equipment, and recommending continuous improvement activities to help improve quality and reduce cost. The Chemical Plant Production Supervisor role is a rotating shift position and will be the responsible person on site when rotating in the off hours of the 24/7 process.


Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure all staff are trained and follow safety regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Oversee assigned production buildings to ensure all work is performed in compliance with Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) regarding safety, health, and the environment.

  • Communicate with production team regarding safety, production, quality, or any other operational issues.

  • Assist with continued training and disciplinary actions of production staff.

  • Actively participates in pre-shift meetings to assist in the development of individual work plans.

  • Assist in creating work schedules based on production plans to meet deadlines.

  • Complete and accurately record data such as process, equipment, downtime occurrences, raw material lot numbers, process and reaction conditions, and process yields in accordance with good documentation practices.

  • Maintain a clean and productive area by ensuring that equipment and work area is cleaned after use and the equipment is maintained per the preventative maintenance schedule.

  • Assist with maintaining adequate supplies to ensure team has necessary supplies available to complete projects.

Position Overview


The Mechanical Maintenance Technician is responsible for providing, predictive, preventive, and emergency maintenance services to production, utility operations and infrastructure systems as necessary to provide for safe operations, regulatory compliance and equipment availability related to mechanical systems plant wide.



Job Responsibilities



  • Incorporate safe behavior into all activities and consistently comply with all established safety and health policies and procedures.

  • Maintenance of production units, utility, and infrastructure systems

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and rebuild mechanical systems. Example assets include shredders, bagging stations, conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, piping systems, tanks, relief devices, and pressure vessels.

  • Perform predictive/preventive (PdM), routine, and emergency maintenance on production unit, utility, and infrastructure equipment. Example PdM activities include thickness monitoring, vibration monitoring, critical clearance checks, and changing fluids in gearboxes. Example routine maintenance activities include performing piping line breaks, opening tank manways, uncoupling pump shafts, removing guards, pulling/installing relief devices, changing belts, changing mechanical consumable components, replacing steam traps, etc.

  • Use Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) effectively to accomplish required maintenance in an efficient and organized manner.

  • Provide maintenance procedure and training development assistance for new equipment.

  • Optimize plant preventative maintenance program to meet OEM recommendations, regulatory requirements, and corporate maintenance philosophy.

  • Provide commissioning and start-up support to production operations.

  • Cooperate with groups and individuals within the Engineering & Maintenance department, Operations, and other service units.

  • Perform all tasks and assignments in accordance with company policies and procedures.

Director of Project Management – On Site, Westborough MA

Ascend Elements is a technology company commercializing the patented low-cost process for producing high quality cathode active materials from spent lithium-ion batteries. Founded with technology initially developed at Worcester Polytechnic Institute and with facilities in Massachusetts, Michigan and Georgia, we have built strong relationships throughout the electric vehicle supply chain. We are expanding out project and program management team to execute our plans for rapid growth in 2024 and beyond including our first cathode materials production facility in Kentucky.


The Director of the Program Management Office (PMO) reports to the CFO/COO. The Dir of the PMO is responsible for planning and overseeing major corporate projects that include R&D project teams with the vehicle OEMs, lithium-ion battery manufacturers, and battery active material producers. In addition, the role supports global strategy and business development activities.


Responsibilities:



  • Design and implement a corporate stage-gate process for the corporate PMO.

  • Oversee projects deliverables of direct reports to ensure outcomes consistent with expectations.

  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, project charters with scopes and objectives to track progress and oversee all institutionalization other critical project management tools.

  • Push for critical focus on budget, scope, schedule, and critical paths within the PMO and Company.

  • Prepare and maintain reporting tools to communicate project performance (e.g., weekly scorecard)

  • Perform risk assessments and management to minimize project threats and optimize project opportunities.

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties for the execution of joint-development projects.

  • Oversee PMO group of 5+ people with projects over $1bn.

  • PMO tools experience – Project Charters, Schedule Budgets

  • Define and update project RASIC charts.

  • Cross-functional focus on accomplishing project goals on time within budget and scope.

Qualifications and experience:



  • BA/BS or higher degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical, Mechanical, or applicable Engineering field

  • Minimum of 10 (Ten) years program management experience in an automotive or chemicals industry.

  • Experience with APQP is required.

  • 10 years proven working experience in project management; PMP certification preferred.

  • 10 years’ experience building and maintaining project plans, budget and resource forecasts, and project management documentation (key assumptions, risks, etc.).

  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and ability multitask and run multiple projects at the same time.

  • Proved meeting leadership and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation skills required.

  • Computer proficiency, including spreadsheets and presentations; experience with Microsoft Project is highly desirable.
